“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others” – Marianne Williamson.

Last week I launched my official Tell Me Mel Facebook page.  I was very hesitant to create this page out of fear that “I’d be giving people one more avenue to ‘get annoyed’ with me posting all the time.”  You see, last month I started my year long mentorship and Best of You Coaching program with Jill Coleman of JillFit Physiques.  Throughout the year I have plans and goals to take my online fitness presence to another level.  Through my personal brand and Pump & Shred, along with everything else I do, I want to be able to reach more people than just one-on-one interactions.  While personal training and being an owner of Anytime Fitness gives me great satisfaction, I still feel like I have more to give, share, and more people to reach.

When I expressed my hesitations in creating my page here was Jill’s response:

“Your brand, message and offerings should not annoy people. In fact, people should WANT to see what’s going on BECAUSE YOU ARE THAT AMAZING AND YOUR CONTENT IS THAT INCREDIBLE.  This is a mindset. You have to have the mindset that not only is your stuff worth reading, but people NEED your stuff.”

It was just the confidence boost that I needed to get uncomfortable and quit “playing small.”

“Make your goals at least a step beyond what makes you comfortable, you will be forced to grow” – John C. Maxwell.

Thus, my Facebook page was born.  At the beginning of the year I adopted the Compete Everyday slogan, “Leave No DoubtWork so hard, train with such intensity, compete at the highest of levels so that you leave no doubt in their minds that you belong and that you will succeed” and this is what I will continue to do.

Thank you all who have joined my Tell Me Mel community, who inspire and continue to support me along the way.

What have you been holding back from in fear of rejection?
What goal have you been avoiding because it lies just outside of your comfort zone?

Whatever it is; “your playing small does not serve the world”. We were all meant to shine. Be liberated from your fears; it will liberate others from theirs.
