“To read without reflecting is like eating without digesting” – Edmund Burke.

Welcome to my bookshelf. Here is where you can find some of my favorite books along with some of my favorite excerpts from each. Think of it as an informal “book club” if you will. I have read so many books with so many nuggets of great information; inspiration it would be shame for me to not share them with you. My goal is to encourage you to pick up a few of these books and find passages that inspire you!

How Successful People Think

by John C. Maxwell

“Examine your day and look for opportunities to learn.”

Live Completely: “The truth is that you can spend your life any way you want, but you can spend it only once.”

“The goal of leaders shouldn’t be merely to make their people feel good, but to help them be good and accomplish the dream”

“He that is everywhere is nowhere.”

Identify Your Priorities: “Do what you enjoy most and do best. Give 80 percent of your effort to the top 20 percent (most important) activities.”

Develop Your Dream: “If you want to achieve great things, you need to have a great dream.”

“Find the one thing you do well and don’t do anything else.”

“Being willing to give up some of the things you love in order to focus on what has the greatest impact isn’t an easy lesson to learn.”

“Creativity is being able to see what everybody else has seen and think what nobody else has thought so that you can do what nobody else has done.”

“Don’t just work harder at the same old thing; make a change.”

“Remember, most limitation we face are not imposed on us by others; we place them on ourselves.”

“If you want to break out of your own box, get into somebody else’s. Read broadly.”

Realistic Thinking: “If you don’t take a realistic look at your dream – and what it will take to accomplish it – you will never achieve it.”

“The one with the plan is the one with the power.”

“Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs.”

“Before it can be solved, a problem must be clearly defined.”

“The winners in life think constantly in terms of ‘I can, I will and I am.”

“Look for the good in what other people are doing and apply it.”

“Make your goals at least one step beyond what makes you comfortable, you will be forced to grow.”

“People often forget that you can’t improve and still stay the same.”

“But if you believe you can, you can! That’s the power of possibility thinking.”

“You will think like the people with whom you spend the most time.”

“Few things in life bring greater personal rewards than helping others.”

“Instead of trying to be great, be part of something greater than yourself.”

“The people who love you would rather have you than what you can give them.”
